A new health insurance option was made available in Idaho called the Medicare-Medicaid Coordinated Plan. It was created in 2007 and is only available to those who are qualified for both Medicare and Medicaid. If you are unable to be enrolled in the Coordinated Plan, you will automatically be signed up for the Medicare Enhanced Plan; this option gives you basic benefits. With the Coordinated Plan, you are placed into the Medicare Advantage Plan (this has managed care), but Medicare is your primary provider for making the payments medical expenses.

Those that decide to enroll in the Coordinated Plan have the option of getting nutritional support, wellness services and preventative care support. This plan is also considered integrated because participants get coverage from both Medicare and Medicaid. Besides the Coordinated Plan, there are also Prescription Drug Plans (PDPs)*. To have benefits from this option, you must elect to receive them during the enrollment process. You receive extra benefits added on to your Medicare policy, such as discounts for prescription drugs. There are low co-payments and deductibles for this option, but if you have a low income, supplemental support is available.
