HealthMarkets Care Assured
HealthMarkets Care Assured has been in the insurance industry for over 25 years. Their health and supplemental insurance products cater to the self-employed, individuals and families, as well as small businesses.
Company Background
The HealthMarkets Companies include The MEGA Life and Health Insurance Companysm, Mid-West National Life Insurance Company of Tennesseesm based in Texas, and The Chesapeake Life Insurance Company® with plans in 44 states.
In late 2007, HealthMarkets expanded into the Medicare market by offering a new portfolio of Medicare Advantage Private-Fee-for-Service Plans called HealthMarkets Care Assured Plans in selected markets in 29 states. In July 2008, they determined they would not continue to participate in the Medicare business after the 2008 plan year. The enrollees in their Medicare Advantage plans were able to choose new providers during Medicare's open enrollment period.
